Castel Gresta, located in the eponymous valley, was for a long time the seat of power of the Castelbarco family

The Castelbarco family, a lineage of the Gresta and adversaries of the Prince-Bishops of Madruzzo preferred their more luxurious palazzo in Loppio and abandoned Castel Gresta. In 1703 the castle was plundered and destroyed by the troops of Vendomes. The castle was not rebuilt and left to decay.
Today, only few remains of the walls of Castel Gresta can be found in the wood, surrounded by dense vegetation.
