S. Giovanni Castle

San Giovanni Castle is enthroned on a cliff along the road that connects Baitoni to Bondone. For centuries the castle remained under the watchful guard of the powerful Lodron family that controlled the valley and later on the whole region of Trentino, as well as Austria and Baviera. Over the course of time the castle decayed but its rests are still a clear and precious proof of its glorious past.

In the 1950s a count of Milan purchased the castle and converted it into a private residence. Thereafter the municipality of Bondone bought and restored the castle and opened it to the public. From the terrace of the castle you can enjoy a gorgeous view on the Valle del Chiese and Lake Idro.
