The Tridentine Diocesan Museum of Villa Lagarina was founded with the aim of creating a special home for the precious donation of the Lodron Family. The Lodrons were powerful imperial lords who held the right of patronage over the archipretal church of Santa Maria Assunta from 1561 to 1804. Over the centuries they decorated the church with precious items so as to show off their prestige.
The museum is located in the elegant Palazzo Libera of Villa Lagarina and the exhibition is organised on three floors and unlike the exposition shown in the seat of the museum in the Palazzo Pretorio in Trento, the artworks are arranged according to their patrons. Furthermore you will see precious portraits, ecclesiastic furniture and sacred vestments.
