The variety of lakes in the Trentino is as huge as its colours. The azure blue and emeraldgreen lakes are situated at the bottom of the valleys, on elevated plains and even in the glacial areas. Interesting is above all their allocation in terms of altitude: the largest lakes are situated in the lowlands, whereas between 1,200 and 1,500 metres a.s.l. no lakes can be found. Between 1,500 and 3,200 metres a.s.l., however, 257 blue jewels can be found. The Trentino lakes do not only distinguish themselves thanks to the clearness of water, but also thanks to their richness in fish.
