Lagorai

The longest mountain chain in the east of the Trentino

The Lagorai mountain chain is situated in the south of Predazzo. Parts of this mountain chain belong to the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park. From a geographical point of view the Lagorai belongs to the Dolomites, but from a geological point of view it does not.

However, the Lagorai mountain chain extends between Monte Panarotta and Passo Rolle and is about 70 km long. In the south it is bounded by the Valsugana, in the north and west by the Val di Fiemme and in the east by the Valle di Primiero and Vanoi.

Characteristic for this mountain chain are the black, reddish and greenish rock faces, formed about 300 million years ago due to volcanic activity.

The only trafficable pass in the Lagorai mountain chain is the Passo Manghen, which connects Molina di Fiemme and Borgo Valsugana.
