The animal care centre, not far from Trento, is a true haven for injured and ill wild animals

From Trento it is only a few minutes drive to the Alpine Animal Care Centre Casteller (Centro di recupero fauna alpina di Casteller). The rescue centre and veterinary clinic for injured wild animals was founded in the 1960s, today it is managed by the Hunters association of Trento (Associazione Cacciatori Trentini). The centre is located in a forest where wild animals can find a mostly natural environment for their recovery.
Once the animals have fully recovered, the team returns them to the wild and ensures that they are able to survive on their own. The animals that are not able to feed themselves or can't survive in the wild for other reasons, find a new home in the huge enclosures of the Alpine Animal Care Centre Casteller.
