On this hot summer day, a hike in the surroundings of the glaciers of the Ortles-Cevedale Group is perfect. In Pejo Fonti we take the cable car to the Rif. Lo Scoiattolo where we take the chair lift to the Rif. Dos dei Cembri mountain hut. Here our tour through the rocky alpine world at the slopes beneath the glaciers of the Monte Vioz (3,645 m asl.) starts.
The path no. 138 soon turns into a steep track and proceeds uphill through more and more scanty vegetation on the western valley side of the Valle della Mite. The babbling of the icy Rio della Mite glacial stream accompanies us through the landscape characterised by scree fields and red rocks. We come closer and closer to the glaciers and after a 2.5-hour walk we reach the Pejo 3000 mountain station.
Up here we enjoy a breathtaking mountain panorama from the Dolomites until the glaciers of the Presanella Group. By cable car effortlessly we come down into the valley again and enjoy some gorgeous views on the landscapes of the Stelvio National Park from the windows.
