Spring is the best season to discover the Val di Non, characterised by blooming apple trees, medieval castles and deep canyons

When the fruit orchards in the Val di Non are in bloom, it's the perfect moment for a discovery hike in Tassullo in the municipality of Ville d’Anaunia. After buying a ticket for the castle at the Palazzo Pilati in Tassullo, we set off to the 13th century Castel Valer to attend a guided tour, which lasts about 1 hour (please note: guided tours in Castel Valer can now be booked online or directly at the Val di Non Tourism Association).
Afterwards we return to Tassullo and walk towards the railway station where we follow the marker no. 529 which proceeds into the gorge to the Eremo di Santa Giustina Hermitage. The descent is quite steep but we can already catch a first view on the hermitage which is hidden between the rocks. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing works along the path, we cannot visit the hermitage. We conclude our hike in the canyon heading towards south until we arrive at a small path in the apple orchards that takes us back to Tassullo.
