This spring walk in the lower Val di Non valley takes us through forests and fruit orchards to the beautiful Castel Thun

The village of Ton in the Val di Non is the starting point for our short 2 km walk to Castel Thun. We start at the Piazza Guardi in the centre and follow the Via Valle up to the football field.
It is mid April and the forest is reawakening and in the undergrowth the first spring heralds start blooming. We take the path no. 4, named "Percorso d'Anaunia", which leads us to Castel Thun. It takes us through a mixed forest and further through the fruit orchards in full blossom of the lower Val di Non.
As we reach the hill of the castle, we are surprised by the dimensions of this fortress. It is surrounded by ancient walls and was restored several years ago by the province of Trento. Today it hosts one of its provincial museums. If you want to dive into the world of the Thun family and the archbishops of Trento, then you are definitely in the right place. The view on the Val di Non valley and the Brenta Dolomites is simply amazing!
