To the Colbricon Lakes and across Mt Cima Cavallazza back to Passo Rolle: this mountain hike in the eastern Lagorai promises gorgeous perspectives to the Dolomites, starting at the Pala Group until Mt Marmolada and till the peaks of the Catinaccio and Latemar

The Malga Rolle (mountain hut) is situated directly at the road shortly before you arrive at the summit of the pass. This hut is our start and end point today here in the eastern mountains of the Lagorai. We follow the marker no. 348 (Laghi di Colbricon) which leads us to the mountain hut at the lakes on a comfortable forest path. A very special place. The peaks of the Colbricon are reflected in the two dark shining lakes and its easy to believe that already in the Prehistory people settled here.
Now we follow the marker “Cima Cavallazza” which leads steeply uphill behind the mountain hut. The higher we walk the better we can watch the two mountain lakes and the surrounding woods and alpine pastures. The steep track winds through the scree and crosses sloping meadows. So we finally arrive at the first peak of the Cavallazza. Here we have an amazing panorama: from the Catinacio in the west to the Marmolada in the north, from the dominant Pale di San Martino in the east until the village of San Martino di Castrozza down and further to the Malga Ces. Awesome!
Next we follow the marker to the Passo Rolle. In view of the Lago di Cavallazza we walk downhill to the Forcella Cavallazza. Then again uphill along the hillside of the Tognazza. Past the chairlift the path finally leads us along the ski slope down to the Passo Rolle. From here it is only a stone's throw back to our starting point.
