Short panoramic hike above Moena di Fassa, suitable for everyone: an excursion into the history and nature of the Dolomite valleys
Image gallery: Walking tour to Someda
Our short walking tour starts in the “Strada de Pecé” road in the village of Moena, near the roundabout above Lake Soraga (Lago di Soraga). Here we turn into the steep "Pontea de Mandra" path and after a short ascent we reach the "Strada del Térmen", a panoramic path above the valley. The flat path proceeds towards South to the village of Someda.
In the village, a small accumulation of typical country houses, there is also the church dedicated to St. Rochus, Sebastian and Fabian from the 16th century as well as a museum of the Dolomite front in the 1st World War. A little further on we come to the Forte di Someda, an Austro-Hungarian defence of the late 19th century. However, the impressive fortress did not play a major role in the 1st World War, as it was already considered outdated at that time.
The path continues through meadows and woods, above the entrance to the San Pellegrino Valley, until we reach the valley station of the Alpe di Lusia Cable Car and the Malga Passarella tavern. To return to our starting point in Moena, we take the same route.
