The TrentoFilmFestival is one of the oldest festivals of its kind in Italy. The first festival took place in 1952, when the Italian Alpine Club (Club Alpino Italiano) came up with the idea to organise a film festival concerning mountains. Finally it was realised in collaboration with the municipality of Trento. Since its dawn, the TrentoFilmFestival is held in the city of Trento and allows people to explore the mountains in all their different facets.
In fact, the main character of the TrentoFilmFestival are the mountains with all their particularities, such as their culture and environment, alpinism and explorations. Films and videos of different genres, length and nationalities on the extremely varied world of the mountains are promoted and shown during the festival. The program of the TrentoFilmFestival is always very interesting. Besides the viewing of different films, you will also enjoy a fantastic program of exhibitions and meetings with the international mountain world and literature.
All the presented films must raise awareness on the knowledge and protection of the mountains, depict their symbolic, human, historical and social aspects and promote alpinism, the protection of the environment and the sustainable development of alpine areas. Since 2000 the TrentoFilmFestival is the founding member of the association International Alliance for Mountain Film, which includes the most important international film festivals devoted to the mountains.
