Herbs and hay baths as a remedy for different diseases

A vast garden of innumerable alpine herbs surrounds the thermal baths of Garniga, situated not far from the province capital of Trento. The herbs are cut in the early morning or late evening and soaked in huge vats.
After this procedure they are ready for being used in the famous hay baths, a treatment during which the patient lies down in a bed of hay and grass, which reaches a temperature of 50-60° C. Hay baths are particularly suitable for rheumatic conditions, chronic lumbar pain, lumbosciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome and muscle spasms.
Please note: The Garniga thermal baths are currently closed and there is currently no planned reopening date. (last updated in March 2025).
