The village of Vattaro, with its 1,200 inhabitants, belongs to the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana and is the biggest tourist centre of the high plateau.
Vattaro offers numerous accommodations as well as sporting facilities and relaxing leisure activities, like rides, Nordic walking, mountain bike tours, tennis, volleyball, demanding and easy hikes and different thematic paths, dedicated to various topics.
Ancient walls and historic residences characterise the village, like for example the Palazzo Bortolazzi with gorgeous frescos in the interiors which show the peasant life. They date from the artist “Il Pistoiese” Erasmo Antonio Obermuller. Vattaro also looks back on a long rural tradition. From here the so-called “Carradori” came, carters, who were on the way between Feltre and Trento to sell wood, fruits and vegetables.
