The village of Grumes, which belongs to the municipality of Altavalle in the upper Val di Cembra valley, has approx. 400 inhabitants. It is located 20 km far away from Cavalese in the Val di Fiemme valley and about a 30 minute drive from the capital of Trento.
The influence of the near Val di Fiemme can be noticed in architecture and village planning. The village consists of the districts Gregiòn, Dos, La Riù, Masi and Rella. At some houses along the road to the church also frescoes can be admired. The parish church of Grumes is dedicated to St. Lucia and has a separated steeple with onion-shaped roof. The church exists already since 1497 but was new built in 1767.
Grumes is surrounded by an impressive nature, centuries-old woods, water courses, vineyards and dry walls. It is the right place to relax or to be active in nature. A main focus in this area is on sustainable tourism, in this context several thematic trails have been arranged.
Typical for Grumes and its surroundings is also the winegrowing and production of well-known Trentino wines, for example the Müller-Thurgau.
