The municipality of Sopramaggiore includes the villages Belfort, Fabbrica, Maurina, Meano, Sedriago and Seghe and is inhabited by some 1,200 citizens. The municipal territory comprises the apple orchards of the Val di Non valley and extends up to the high plateau of the Paganella, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites.
Spormaggiore is located at 565 m asl on a terrace-shaped hill right at the entry of the Val di Non valley. Contemporaneously, Spormaggiore serves as the gateway to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, featuring a little wild park and a visitor centre called "Orso, il Signore dei Boschi" ("The bear, the Lord of the Woods").
Worth to be visited are also the ruins in the environs and the well-preserved tower of Castle Belfort. The Lovara grotta at Fausior is a precious testimonial dating of the ice age history of this area. The skiing area is within easy reach from Fai della Paganella and is a popular starting point for hikes and cycling tours in the Brenta Dolomites.
