Surrounded by a typical pre-alpine landscape and characterised by the impressive Sabbionara Castle, Avio is a very special holiday destination. The Castello di Sabbiona is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful castles of the Trentino. As this castle complex is illuminated at night it can be admired from afar.
Worth noticing is also the historic centre of Avio with its Baroque church dedicated to S. Maria Assunta and dating back to the 17th century.
Worthwhile, however, is also the main road crossing the historic town of Avio. The typically decorated portals of Avio line this road. Findings dating back to the Roman period prove that this village harkens back on a long history. Regarding vegetation, above all olive trees, holm oaks and wine are cultivated in this area, as the village benefits from a mild climate.
