The beautiful historic town of Volano is located on a terrace at the edge of the valley. The main road of the locality is lined by two rows of houses. These buildings take you to the entrance of the inner courtyards, the so-called "corts“. The groups of buildings are equipped with plastered barn floors, balconies and external staircases.
The rather plain terrain that surrounds the village are used for the cultivation of vines and fruits, above all for the cultivation of apples. Moreover Volano is famous for the production of the Marzemino, one of the most popular wines of the Trentino. Also the San Rocco church is worth to be visited. It dates back to the 15th century, was built in Gothic style and boasts several precious frescos.
Volano is also known for its carnival with the characteristic parade of wagons with figures and the "Magnalonga", a culinary walk of about 10 km through the vineyards and villages of Volano, Calliano and Besenello. Along the route there are various food, wine and craft stands as well as musical entertainment and shows.
