Lardaro with its 200 inhabitants is a district of the newly founded municipality of Sella Giudicarie. It is located at about 730 m asl. in the Valle del Chiese valley.
Due to the surroundings of the village and the vicinity to the border of Ponte Caffaro, Lardaro was a very important spot for the Austro-Hungarian Army formerly. During the Independence Wars in the 19th century it built six fortresses here, two of them are still in good condition: Forte Larino and Forte Corno.
Several beautiful and easily walkable paths can be found in and around Lardaro. Either on foot or by mountain bike the fortress “Forte Corno”, the village of Carriola, the green basin of the Conca di Chiero and the capital of the Madonnina di Campel can be reached.
