The village of Vigolo Vattaro, part of the municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana, has 2,250 inhabitants and is located at 724 m a.s.l. Its roots reach back to the Bronze Age.
The famous Roman road Via Claudia Augusta proceeds near the village and in the Middle Ages Vigolo Castle was built here. Vigolo Vattaro has preserved its historic villagescape, lovely buildings, narrow alleys and stone arches still can be admired here.
Besides numerous gastronomic delicacies, like wine, honey, sweet chestnuts or local cheeses, Vigolo Vattaro also offers plenty of possibilities to be active in nature such as walks at the feet of the Marzola mountain massif, hikes to the alpine pastures of the Vigolana massif, Nordic Walking paths, mountain bike tracks and horse-riding.
